Tropical Storm Dianmu, Vietnam and Thailand, Late September 2021Tropical Storm Dianmu tracked over Vietnam after making landfall in Quang Ngai Province the evening of 23 September. Floods were reported in northern and central Vietnam and northern and central Thailand, where several dams failed. According to figures from Thai Water, rivers are above flood level in 39 locations in the Bang Pakong, Tha Chin, Pa Sak, Sakae Krang, Chao Phraya, Nan, Yom, Ping, Mun and Chi rivers, as of 27 September 2021. Vietnam In Vietnam, flooding was reported in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and 14,225 people were affected. 3 fishermen were reported missing at sea. 2,725 houses were damaged in Nghe An. Thailand According to the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet), 30 provinces in Thailand were affected: Ang Thong, Chai Nat, Chaiyaphum, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Lampang, Lamphun, Loei, Lop Buri, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Sa Kaeo, Sing Buri, Sukhothai, Suphan Buri, Tak, Ubon Ratchathani. According to media and DDPM reports, the most severe of the flooding was in Sukhothai, Lopburi and Chaiyaphum Provinces. The total number affected in Thailand as of 27 September was 355,465 from 71,093 households. Fatalities were reported in Lopburi (5) and Phetchabun (1).
