New South Wales and Queensland, Australia, February 2020Torrential rain fell in parts of New South Wales (NSW), Australia from 07 February, causing rivers to rise and flash flooding. NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) carried out high water rescues and issued evacuation orders for flooding along the Hawkesbury and Georges rivers. Strong winds have also caused damage, leaving several injured from falling trees and thousands of homes without power. Heavy rain affected parts of Queensland during this period, with increased intensity from 12 February. Flood warnings were issued for some towns in Queensland's Western Downs Region.
