Spain and France, Storm Gloria, January 2020In Spain, the most affected are the Catalonia Region and the Valencia Province. Media report, as of 23 January, at least 5 fatalities, of which 2 in Valencia Province (1 in Gandia Municipality and 1 more in Moixent Municipality), 1 in Palamos Town (Girona Province, Catalonia), 1 in Avila Province, and 1 in the Asturias Region. In France, the most affected are Pyrénées-Orientales, Aude, Ariège, and Haute-Garonne Departments, where occurred the overflow of several rivers. According to the Centre Opérationnel de Gestion Interministérielle des Crises (COGIC), as of as of 23 January, around 2,000 people were preventively evacuated across Pyrénées-Orientales and Aude.
