  • Tropical Cyclone ANN formed in the Coral Sea and on 13 Mat at 0.00 UTC was located 900 km east-northeast of Cairns with maximum sustained winds of 93 km/h (tropical storm).
  • It is forecast to weaken slightly before making landfall on the eastern Cape York Peninsula on 15 May, with maximum sustained winds up to 75 km/h.
  • Over the next 24 hours, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast over the eastern coast of northern Queensland and a strong wind warning has been issued for the Cape York Peninsula.

  • Tropical Cyclone ANN's centre was located approximately 420 km north-east of the city of Cairns (Cairns Region, Queensland State) on 14 May 0.00 UTC with maximum sustained winds of 74 km/h (tropical storm).
  • It is expected to make landfall on the eastern Cape York Peninsula (northern Queensland) close to the town of Coen on 15 May, with maximum sustained winds up to 65 km/h.
  • According to the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), ANN will bring heavy rainfall and strong winds along north-eastern Queensland coast, between Lockhart River and Townsville municipalities on 15-16 May.

  • Tropical depression ANN made landfall in the early morning of 15 May close to Lockhart River in eastern Cape York Peninsula (Queensland), dissipating soon after. 
  • Th residual weather system will move west-northwest into eastern Gulf of Carpentaria.
  • Strong wind warnings have been issued for coastal areas. Moderate rainfall, wind and thunderstorms are forecast for north-eastern Cape York Peninsula over 15-16 May.
