  • An earthquake of 5.3 M and a depth of 10 km occurred in Mugla Province, north-western Greece, on 8 March at 3:32 UTC (5:32 local time). The epicentre was located approximately 2 km southeast of Rodotópi and 19 km from the city of Ioannina in the Epirus region. The earthquake was also felt in the Ionian islands and in Albania.
  • The USGS PAGER estimates that approximately 3 000 people were exposed to very strong shaking and 15 000 to strong shaking.
  • According to media reports, as of 9 March, ten houses in the municipality of Souli and two churches in the village of Psina have been damaged. National authorities suspended classes in the Ioannina municipality to allow inspections of school buildings. Some landslides were reported, also affecting one main highway in the affected area, and power outages were recorded in Ioannina.
