There is an ongoing outbreak of coronavirus. The virus originated in Wuhan City, Hubei Province but cases have been confirmed in other parts of China and in some countries in the region. The Solomon Islands authorities will apply risk-based health screening measures to all passengers travelling to Solomon Islands .

One area still reeling from a huge earthquake is Turkey which on Friday, January 24 was hit by a magnitude-6.7 quake. This killed at least 38 people and injured more than 1,600 when it hit 21 miles from Elazig. Buildings crumbled into rubble, leaving thousands homeless with 45 survivors pulled from the debris in the days since.

Magnitude-7.7 earthquake jolts Caribbean, sparks tsunami fears throughout region

A powerful earthquake struck the Caribbean on Tuesday afternoon, shaking parts of Jamaica and Cuba shortly after 2 p.m. and raising fears of a dangerous tsunami. The earthquake was originally rated a 7.3 by the U.S. Geological Survey but was later upgraded to a 7.7.
