أعلنت هيئة المسح الجيولوجى الأمريكية، اليوم تعرّض جزيرة سومطرة الأندونيسية لهزة أرضية قوية بلغت 6,5 درجة بمقياس ريختر. وأضافت أن الزلزال شعر به سكان سنغافورة، التى تبعد 400 ميلاً، لكنّه ليس هنك خطورة من موجات المد العاتية تسونامى. وحتى الأن لم ترد أنباء عن خسائر للهزة الأرضية التى سجّلت عمقاً 41 ميلاً.
